Don't think. Just write. Give yourself ten minutes and just let the words flow. Only stipulation is that you must set your writing in an era you've never lived in.
Tips and Tricks
Timed Writing
Let the ideas of structure, themes, and purpose escape your mind. Timed writing is about letting what’s in your mind flow freely without thought or strategy. Enjoy the creative navigation your brain takes without inhibitions. Below are some tips and tricks to find that flow:
Try writing right when you wake up or fall asleep-when the brain isn't fully cognizant and is less focused on structure. Did you know Dali would paint after falling asleep for a few moments to enhance his creativity?
Let go of any expectations and write anything that comes to mind. It doesn't need to make sense. You might be suprised what forms.
Focus less on what you're writing, and more on the feel of writing. Tuning into other senses like touch, smelll, and taste can help unleash new and unfamiliar avenues of writing.
Don't stop for editing. If you misspell a word or forget a coma, don't sweat it and just keep going. You can always edit later. This is about letting creativity flow.
